Meet the Editor

Patrick Gadoury

Author. Poet. Editor. Publisher.

I started Northern INK because I saw a need for a different kind of independent publisher—and, someday, a publishing house. Something more modern, yet more human. More approachable, without being less ambitious.

We’re still building it. Northern INK Workshop is home to Poetry Sunday, Story Saturday, competitions, and shared prompts. It also helps shape our books: For the Record’s themes, artwork, and direction were workshopped for months before its public reveal.

Our free workshops and guidance help writers move toward a finished work. We’re also developing support for finding grants and preparing application materials. When your work is ready, we can help you explore publishing with us, another press, or independently.

The dream is to become a full-time publisher, able to fund projects across Canada while continuing our community and philanthropic work. As we grow, we want to help artists who don’t fit the industry mould break through that ceiling—and bring their art to people who will enjoy it.
